Roving Reporter | "Full Circle Glass at Art Center" by Jeanette Larson

Mentors and patrons with Brad Pearce (second from right)

The Rockport Center for the Arts was so crowded for the April 7, 2018 gallery talk and opening reception that visitors needed to watch their elbows and arms to avoid all of the beautiful glass pieces displayed in this new solo exhibit. Pearce began his gallery talk by thanking his mentor and patrons, many of whom were in attendance. He discussed some of the creative aspects of his work, called the Marea Collection (Italian for ocean tide), and answered questions about the technical aspects of working with hot liquid glass. Artist Brad Pearce first learned the craft of glass blowing in Rockport, although his studio is now in Corpus Christi. The title, Full Circle, describes both Pearce's first and most recent pieces on display and his return to Rockport. The exhibit continues through May 19 and is free.
