Rockport-Fulton Rotary Club Hosts Over 1,000 Locals Hungry to Help

Rockport, Texas - (April 24, 2018) When the doors of Rock Bottom Park & Pub opened Saturday April 14th, there were hundreds of people in line to taste what Rockport restaurants had to offer. It was Rockport-Fulton Rotary Club’s Annual “Taste of Rockport-Fulton”. Guests were treated to foods from Paradise Key, Latitude 28 02, Rockport Bakery, Mac’s Pit Barbecue, Lighthouse Liquors Gourmet Foods, H-E-B Deli, Kimmi’s Fine Foods and Pink Octopus. With well over 1,000 attendees, this year’s success was a beautiful example of how our town is bouncing back after Hurricane Harvey. It was a great way to bring the entire community together to celebrate all the things that make Rockport so special.

“Although the event was free this year, The Rotary Club was able to raise $5,500 for scholarships for Rockport-Fulton High School students. Contributing to their success, was New Beginnings, who donated a portion of their Saturday sales allowing us to increase all of the scholarships amounts,” said Steve Clarkson, Rotary Chairman of Taste of Rockport-Fulton.

In addition to helping our local students, the event helped boost Downtown Merchants’ sales with hundreds of people wandering around shopping in Downtown stores before heading to the event. It’s a welcome sight and a sign of some much-needed momentum the Downtown Merchants hope to continue. To do so, they have created Second Saturday, an event where merchants will have specials for visitors every second Saturday of the month from 4:00-6:00 pm. Downtown Merchants look forward to encouraging more foot traffic to shops as well as to our downtown restaurants, bars and pubs. Join us for these upcoming events:

“Find Yourself in Rockport-Fulton” on May 5th and 6th for Nautical Flea Market held by Rockport Yacht Club…on the Harbor in Downtown Rockport.

“Find Yourself in Rockport-Fulton” on May 12th, Second Saturday Downtown Rockport, 4-6 pm, for Mothers’ Day Madness ~ Sip, Shop & Save.
