Eight local youngsters will be graduating from the Community Pool’s first Junior Lifeguard Training Program on Tuesday, June 21 at noon. The event will kick off with a demonstration of skills by the students, followed by a commencement ceremony, and refreshments.

Conducted in conjunction with the American Red Cross, the program was designed to provide 11-14-year-old youths with the mandatory skills and knowledge to become certified in necessary lifesaving skills. They may serve under the auspices and direction of a registered lifeguard and will be eligible for hiring when they reach the requisite age. Successful service as a Junior Lifeguard will be reflected in their pay rate if they are hired as a regular Lifeguard.

Graduates include Beau Blankenship, 12; Talon Kenfield, 11; Addison Kopp, 11; Chris McDowell, 14; Aubrey Miller, 13; Rebekah Porter, 14; Brandon Riekers, 12; and Justin Riekers, 11.
