(July 19, 2018) – Rockport Downtown Proudly welcomed The Texas Downtown Association for their July RoundTable with a focus on Downtown Promotions and Marketing. This informative gathering of the Texas Downtown Association was held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, with over 50 attendees from cities across the state. These attendees will be represented Downtown Associations, Cities, Chambers and Convention and Visitor Bureaus.

The day began with check-in and introductions at Latitude Restaurant and Art Gallery. Rockport’s Daily Grind catered continental breakfast for the group. The morning’s activities commenced with a one-hour downtown walking tour led by Sandy Jumper, Vice President of Marketing and Promotions, Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Jennifer Day, President of the Downtown Cultural Art District. The tour included many of Downtown Rockport’s attractions and businesses. Lunch was catered by Apple Dumpling Deli. The group’s mission for bringing the workshop to Rockport was to promote commerce in downtown and give a boost to the local economy.

Attendees had the opportunity to attend presentations which included: Corsicana Pop Up: How one city decided to do something different to fill those buildings and create a new sense of place by Karie Denny, City of Corsicana. and Tips and Insights on Building Downtown Awareness for Visitors on cost efficient ways to build awareness by Daryl Whitworth, Madden Media.

Discussions covered shared insights gleaned from destination marketing to insights on experiential tourism and events, website best practices, online content tips, social media recommendations and more, all while allowing participants to interact throughout.

The Texas Downtown Conference will also be held in the Coastal Bend. It is scheduled November 6-9, hosted by Corpus Christi Downtown.
