Airboat Captains Needed For Cove Harbor Wetlands Cleanup

What's this icon mean?

Keep Aransas County Beautiful has gained formal approval by the Army Corps of Engineers to clean up Cove Harbor Wetlands! We have been working hard for the last several months planning and networking with local waterway oversight organizations.

We have assessed the property and have what we feel is a safe plan to remove the debris. We were able to pull part way up into the area with a bay boat and wade into the middle of it all. The marsh is not too mucky and is walk-able in wading shoes. The roofing panels are light and easy to knock holes into for us to harness. We will then latch onto the cable harnesses with tow ropes. We can use bay boats to tow the material in the canal to the drystack for Cove Harbor to lift out. The roofing panels did not seem deeply buried and should be fairly easy to remove.

While boat captains are in the water and kayakers near the ICW, citizens will be cleaning up the debris along 35 Bus and the birding site just north of the property.
