Rockport Center for the Arts | Downtown Beautification & Community Art Project

Downtown Beautification & Community Art Project

Join us in a special mural project with Artist in Residence,
Rabecca Signoriello

Next week Rabecca will lead us in creating custom murals to adorn our new home. Participants will help make a series of 8 panels depicting our coastal community come to life. You can see a mock up of 6 panels in the above picture. These panels will then be installed on the building as a permanent beautification project for the community to enjoy for many many years to come.

Please come in as your schedule allows and be a part of history.

Tuesday - Friday, November 6-9
9 am - Noon each day

Painting will be happening next week, Tuesday through Friday, from 9 am to Noon in the portable classroom behind our main building. We will have all of the materials, just bring you! Everyone is welcome to participate!

We hope to see you here!

About the Artist in Residence Program

Signoriello is Rockport Center for the Arts’ sixth Artist-in-Residence. In conjunction with her solo show she will set-up a working studio at the Art Center for a month. Art patrons will be able to visit her, observe her during studio practice, and learn about her medium and technique. While here, she will also lead and engage the community and students at Rockport-Fulton High School in a public art project. Mural panels will be installed at the Art Center after it has been completed.

“We are committed to the beautification of downtown Rockport. Integrating Signoriello’s extensive mural background to engage our community to accomplish a public art project made sense when we invited her to come to the Texas coast,” states Luis Purón, Executive Director. “Something beautiful will be created.”

The Artist-in-Residence program is made possible through a generous and anonymous contribution. The program invites artists for time and space away from their typical environment and obligations. It provides artists from other parts of the world, time and space for presentation, production, reflection, and research. The program is a cultural and humanities benefit to the communities of Rockport and Fulton. Prior artists that have participated in residencies are Ellen Heck (2016-North Carolina), Bob Lockhart (2015-Kentucky), Diane Pike (2014-North Carolina), the team of Judith Selby and Richard Lang (2013-California) and Ewoud de Groot (2012-Holland).

Signoriello comes to Texas from Northwestern Pennsylvania. In 2004, she started Signoriello Studios, specializing in murals. In 2011, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the New York Academy of Art while studying under several noted contemporary painters including: Vincent Desiderio; Steven Assael; Margaret Bowland; and Jenny Saville. Her works are in important private collections in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Germany and Monte Carlo- Monaco. She obtained an undergraduate degree from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.
