Plans Underway for 14th Annual Tropical Christmas Events

Entertainment is being finalized, vendors contacted, and entry forms accepted for many of the special events that will take place during the 14th Annual Tropical Christmas festival on Saturday, December 1.

Among the categories for entries are:
· Vendors, including food trucks
· Parade Floats
· Christmas Tree Decorating Contest

Tropical Christmas is a day-long extravaganza kicking off the holiday season with fun, festivities, fireworks and more in Historic Rockport. Among the featured events are an illuminated night parade, children’s programs, tour of historic homes, vintage fashion show, decorating contests, arts and crafts festival, food and entertainment, fireworks, and, of course, a visit with “Tropical Santa”.

This year, the event will be expanded with a stage on Austin Street, trolley transportation between downtown and the Festival Grounds, and the return of the night parade to the Rockport Beach Park. The Navigation District is offering free entry after 5 pm.

Tropical Christmas requires precise planning, implementation and lots of volunteers. That’s why the Parks Department is putting out a call to interested residents for positions ranging from manning a booth to judging an event.

For additional information on the event, including entry forms for the parade or other events, call the City of Rockport’s Park and Leisure Services Department at (361) 727-2158, go to www.cityofrockport.com, or email parks3@cityofrockport.com.
