Rockport Country Club Enters an Arrangement with Rockport Center for the Arts to Act as the Official Club Curator

We are pleased to announce that the Rockport Country Club has entered into an arrangement with the Rockport Center for the Arts to act as the official curator of original works of art to be displayed in the newly rebuilt RCC clubhouse. Officially beginning in January 2019, the Art Center, under the direction of Executive Director Luis Purón and Curator Elena Rodriguez, will be selecting and displaying throughout the clubhouse art from its own collection and from noted artists.

The facilities of both of the organizations were ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. The Rockport Country Club was able to rebuild its facilities. While the Art Center will be building a new facility in Rockport immediately adjacent to the Rockport Harbor.

The two organizations have long and storied histories in the community, have many common members, and have collaborated and cooperated together in the past. Most recently, Rockport Country Club donated a significant Jesús Bautista Moroles granite sculpture gifted to the club by Mr. Moroles many years ago. The sculpture sustained substantial damage from Hurricane Harvey. The Art Center plans on restoring the sculpture and placing it on public display in the future once funding has been raised for the project.
